Mediterranean
Located at Constitution Square at 1st St NE between M and N, Roti can be best described as a “Mediterranean Chipotle”–that is, one selects:
- Base (sandwich, salad, plate)
- “Meat” (chicken, steak, falafel, veggies)
- Vegetables & sauces
I highly recommend the “roti” versions of the chicken and steak. Lunch lines can be quite long. They also have breakfast variations and free Wi-Fi.

The Chicken Hummus Veggie pita is a top seller along with the marinated rib-eye steak and cheese pita. Vegetarians crave the Spinach Melt.

Beau Thai “delivers solid curries and noodle dishes on par with any Thai joint in the city” according to TBD.com, who also recommends the “Red Curry Duck, the Massaman Curry, or for the heat-averse, the Pad Se Ew.” Located in a nicely-renovated rowhome on the corner of R ST NW and New Jersey Ave., this new restaurant is a short walk or bike ride from our neighborhood.

We recently tried Taylor Gourmet deli on H St. While it is a bit of a walk from Eckington, they do deliver!!! However, be prepared. The night we called in our orders it was an 1 hr and 20 mins. They are opening another location soon by City Vista at 5th and K St NW.
The food was really quite good. I was mildly impressed.

Hi there. We’re buying your guys’ house, and I was hoping that if you haven’t turned the blog over to someone else, maybe I could pick up where you leave off. I write for a living, so it’s right up my alley. And it’d be a good way for us to plug into our new neighborhood.
Thanks :)
